2025 Sanctuary Projects
Thanks to support of our generous donors and supporters, we were able to make several upgrades to our resident’s living spaces in 2025 that we are so proud of!
The Cattery
One of our biggest projects this year was not only determine a creative solution for a safer living environment for our sanctuary cat residents, Mando and Grogu, but making this kitty paradise possible for them!
This project was crucial to not only help protect them from the increasing risks of Avian Influenza, which has been of growing risk to domestic cats, but to ensure they had a space that allowed them to feel connected to nature and their feral roots while still providing safety from predators and preventing injuries or accidents many outdoor cats can face.
“The Cattery” is a spacious, fully secured but open concept living space full of cozy places to lounge, cat shelves for climbing, turf floor for wrestling, and a unique cat tunnel system that connects to their secured room in the barn!
To say they love this space would be an understatement! This project has been LIFE CHANGING for them and is an example of the type of enriched, immersive and safe living space we aim to provide each resident. All made possible by our community of kindness who believe in our mission!
The ChickInn Outdoor Living Space
A fun piece of Fierce Roots history is that the only existing structure that was on the property when we purchased it back in 2017 was a shed that we converted into what is now lovingly known as the “ChickInn”. Everything you see through our photos, videos, or a visit to the sanctuary including the barns, fencing, paddock areas, play spaces, enclosures, etc were built from the ground up with a great deal of intention, time, resources, dedication, and love….all for the animals. It had been on our project wishlist for quite some time to make needed upgrades to the chicken’s outdoor living space.
Fall 2024
Summer 2025
We are so excited and grateful to add on a fully covered roof to their outdoor run to expand their usable living space for all weather conditions! The roof is fully secured alongside the run to keep them safe from predators and even has skylights to provide for more natural light and sun basking spots! We also brought in brand new substrate for the footing to help create a comfortable, easy-to-clean and maintain set up. We even added in additional fun roosting and perching elements for them!
The Goat Enrichment Center
This project was a dream come true for our goat residents and it was all thanks to the incredible donations and support from our 2024 Giving Season campaign! The goats are absolutely loving this space including all the tiered platforms for jumping, playing and lounging on, several scratching brush stations, an enrichment/fidget wall for mental stimulation, and a super fun access ramp! This space was created to be loved by each goat, no matter what their size or personality!
